The 2014 Superleague team deadline is fast approaching and we’re now taking team registrations for next season. Tennis Brisbane Superleague is one of Australia’s largest tennis competition’s with over 2000 players competing each week in various divisions.
The Morningside Tennis Centre is now one of the biggest clubs in the Southside division with 120+ players representing the club. From January 2014 we’ll be making a few important and exciting changes to our Superleague format with a view to creating a fantastic club and team environment at the centre.
TEAM REGISTRATION
As of next season we’ll be taking team registrations rather than individual ones. The Tennis Brisbane Registration Fee will be $150 per team – this can be split between any players you use throughout the season any way you see fit. Previously all registrations have had to be paid individually (at a cost of $75 per player to help cover administration costs, insurance, etc.) however we feel that creating a team environment will be better (and cheaper!) for everyone. If you don’t have a partner don’t worry! We’ll make sure you get set up with a player of a similar standard.
MEMBERSHIP
All players will be required to be members of the Morningside Tennis Centre to be eligible for the Superleague competition. As of 2014 the membership fee will be just $12 and will include Tennis Queensland membership and personal accident insurance. It will also include benefits like a club shirt, water bottle and other goodies!
WHEN ARE THE MATCHES?
You can enter a team on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night or on a Saturday afternoon. Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday are traditionally the popular days as we have a number of courts put aside for the competition however it’s a case of first in – best dressed. The season will run from February to June.
FORMAT
All of our Superleague competitions are 2 player formats. However this only means there has to be a minimum of 2 players per team, up to 3 players can play each match (you just split the match fees evenly) and you can have as many players as you like in your team. We recommend a minimum of 3 players as the responsibility of finding fill-ins is the teams (not the centres!)
GET INVOLVED!
Let’s go! Get out there and find yourself a couple of team-mates or enter as an individual. Remember, nominations close on Friday, November 29 so don’t miss out!
