There is no minimum playing standard required to become involved in Tennis Gear’s Green Hot Shots lessons! We encourage all players to get involved and take part in this awesome game. As player’s progress and improve their games they will start to achieve the playing standards required to move up through the classes and levels right up to our Green Ball Squad’s! There’s no rush though – Green Baller’s can spend up to 3 years honing their craft on the smaller courts and developing their games right through to Hot Shots Squad and Talent Development Squad level!

Green Hot Shots players progress through different levels by acquiring new skills and taking part in exercises. There are four levels in Green Hot Shots: Green 5, Green 10, Green 15 and Green 20 (squad). By week 8 of the term players will take part in our Rally Awards day which will measure their progress in the following areas: Rally, Serve, Come to the Net, Score and Compete. This will give them the opportunity to progress into the next level of Green Ball Hot Shot classes.

All Green Hot Shots players learn and are tested on four important skills:

  • Rally – Learning and developing rallying skills

  • Serve – Learning and developing serving skills

  • Come to the net – Learning and developing movement forwards and volleying

  • Score and Compete – Learning the rules, how to score, how to compete and fair play

The ball used in the Green stage has a higher compression (75 per cent of a yellow tennis ball) and children play on a full-size court.
