Summer League: Round 3 Summary
Morningside Tennis Centre’s Summer League was held in average conditions for tennis on Thursday night however the rain didn’t dampen the standard of tennis in all levels. Rob Daley managed to hold off his League 1 opponents on a slippery court 3 and has cemented a spot on the top of the rankings. He’ll be joined next week by League 2 winner John Gleeson, who pipped Ruth Storrs in a highly competitive group. League 3 was won by the effervescent Dennis Prior who showed that a little bit of rain and two major knee operations can’t stand in the way of a crafty left-hander. Trevor Morrison continued his rise up the ranks with a win in League 4 and now holds top spot in the Summer League Aggregate – another good performance next week from Trevor will see him take home first prize and a Wilson Player’s Pack valued at over $200! Ross Lawson was dominant in League 5 and will continue his move upwards next week. League 6 was won by the people’s champion Fritha Mackay who will move up into a challenging League 5 next week.
Don’t forget next Thursday is the final Summer League for the season – there will be a free BBQ for all players and the top 3 Summer League Aggregate players will receive the second-most valued prize in Australia’s summer of tennis behind the Australian Open.
